Angeles News: ANGELES CITY – “Work ethics and punctuality”

These were the words stressed by Alexander Cauguiran when he addressed city government employees during the Monday flag-raising ceremony.

Cauguiran, the outgoing executive vice president of the Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC) will join the city government effective June 15. He will assume the chief of staff post which he also held when Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan was the city mayor from 1992 to 1998.As he officially becomes part of the Pamintuan administration, Cauguiran exhorted city employees to observe punctuality and practice good work ethics in the performance of their respective tasks.“There should be no excuses from now on. We should report for work or duty on time and give the best service that is expected from us, as public servants,” Cauguiran said.He also told government workers to attend the regular flag-raising rites every Monday.“I expect a 100 percent attendance during the flag ceremony, regardless of your job status,” Cauguiran added.Prior to his stint at CIAC, Cauguiran held several positions in the national government. He was appointed by former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo as undersecretary of the National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC) after which he became a political attaché in San Francisco, USA, where he conferred with the Filipino-American communities in the west coast. Then, he accompanied Arroyo at the Asia-Pacific Economic (APEC) summit in Chile.When Pamintuan was given the cabinet secretary position for the Office of External Affairs (OEA) in Malacanang, Cauguiran was also appointed as undersecretary of the same office.In 2006, he assisted Pamintuan in overseeing the construction of the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway.

Angeles News: Hundreds join AC bike ride, fun-run

ANGELES CITY – Hundreds of cyclists and bike enthusiasts pedaled along the city’s busy streets during the June 4 “Padyak sa Pagbangon,” a kick-off event commemorating the city’s triumph over the devastation wrought by the eruption of Mount Pinatubo.Mayor Edgardo D. Pamintuan and members of the Angeles City Council, councilors Edu Pamintuan, Maricel Morales, Jericho Aguas, Alex Indiongco and SK president JC Pamintuan led the 23.5 kilometer bike ride that showcased bicycle motocross (BMX), mountain bikes, leisure bikes and street bikes.
The bikers pedaled and sweated out around a route that passed the landmarks of the city including the Friendship Highway, the boundary between Porac and Angeles, Sto. Rosario Church, Angeles – San Fernando boundary, Pulung Bulu bridge, San Nicolas market, Angeles City hall and Bayanihan Park.
Two bamboo bikes, which were built by Hermie Pineda, were also showcased during the bike event. The following day, June 5, the “Takbo Para sa Tagumpay” fun run was held. A total of 1,004 registered runners entered the 3k, 5k and 10k run categories. Officers and men from the Philippine National Police (PNP), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and students from various private and public schools, private and civic organizations took part in the run.Both activities which started at the main entrance of SM Clark are part of the city’s celebration dubbed “Turning Tragedy into Triumph” event which is a commemoration of the Angeleños’ resiliency and victory over the devastating effects of the Pinatubo eruption in 1991.We painfully remember the devastation, and at the same time, give tribute to our joint efforts by celebrating how we got back on our feet from the throes of the calamity,” Pamintuan said.Other activities in line with the city’s commemoration of Mt. Pinatubo’s 20th anniversary include the “On-the-Spot Poster Making Contest” on June 14 at SM City Clark. Invited participants are grade school and high school students.On June 15, after a Eucharistic celebration at 8:00 a.m., a groundbreaking ceremony for the phoenix bird monument named “Angeleño” will be held at the NLEX Rotunda adjacent to Marquee Mall. This will be followed by the launching of the coffee table book and the opening of the Pinatubo photo exhibit at the said mall.Photo exhibits and book launching events at SM City Clark and Museo Ning Angeles will also be held on the same day. On June 16, young students can reveal their writing prowess through the “On-the-Spot Essay Writing Contest” which will be held at SM City Clark. The following day, on June 17, young dancers and rap enthusiasts get to showcase their talents in the “Rap and Dance” contest, also at SM City Clark.The week-long commemorative celebration ends with the blessing and inauguration of the Angeles City Dialysis Center on Saturday, June 18. On the same day, winners of all the Pinatubo-related contests will be awarded at SM City Clark, where a concert featuring renowned singer and songwriter, Noel Cabangon will be also be held.

Angeles News: NEW CNA SIGNING

NEW CNA SIGNING. Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan and the officers of the Association of Government Employees for a New and Dynamic Angeles City (AGENDA) sign the new three year Collective Negotiations Agreement (CNA) between the city government and city hall employees. The new agreement covers the granting of the CNA Incentive amounting to P10,000 to all AGENDA members who are either permanent, casual or contractual city hall employees.
