Angeles News: Angeles City hailed for women empowerment programs

ANGELES CITY – Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan lauded the city’s Gender and Development (GAD) Office here for being recognized for its excellent implementation of programs for the empowerment of women.

The GAD, led by its head Purita “Poyen” David, acquired the Gintong Dangal ng Huwarang Kababaihan award in the field of Women Empowerment thru Efficient Service from the People’s Experimental and Environmental Research Society (PEERS).

David received this distinction last March 16, 2013 at the Jade Vine Executive Hotel in Ermita, Manila.

Angeles News: AC gov’t employs student-jobseekers for summer

ANGELES CITY – The city government here has now launched a summer employment scheme for 415 students through the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) under the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

According to Adelina Deocales, Public Employment Services Office (PESO) Manager, the SPES program aims to provide employment to students in order to supplement their needs for the next school year and provide a proper venue to enhance their career skills.

“Aside from the money that they can earn, the students will be able to work with various offices and gain the proper experience in preparing them further for their future careers,” Deocales said.

Angeles News: EdPam, bikers group join “Ride for Books” project

ANGELES CITY – Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan led an assembly of bikers and cycling enthusiasts last Sunday for “Ride for Books”, a 25-kilometer fund-raising ride organized by the Angeles City Cycling Club (ACCC).

According to Pamintuan, “Ride for Books” is a tremendous effort by the city’s cycling group in advocating education in the city as the project’s beneficiary is the City College of Angeles (CCA) library.

“Now that we have realized this pipe dream for our youth, it truly gladdens me that groups such as the Angeles City Cycling Club are doing what they can to help us make the CCA a better venue for education and learning in the city,” the mayor said.
